Good Day! Last week we discussed choosing your wedding style. Well, onto the next step, let’s get organized! Here are some helpful tips to get you on the road to the perfect wedding day.

So you have decided on the wedding date. Where do you begin to start organizing for the wedding? Planning a wedding is a daunting, but exciting prospect. Your wedding will be the biggest occasion you will ever organize. Hopefully you have given yourself at least 12 to 18 months before your wedding date. Every element of the wedding day that needs to be arranged/booked/purchased at a set time during this period can be accomplished in this time frame.

Start a wedding file. This is a file or folder to keep all your wedding documents, contracts etc.
Organization is the key to staying sane during the planning phase.
· Work out your budget. (Talk with parents about who will pay for what.)
· Discuss & choose the style and formality of your wedding.
· Put an announcement of your recent engagement in the local paper.
· Select a ceremony location and the reception location.
· Plan your color scheme
· Pick your wedding party.
And
Start shopping for a wedding gown.

Before we go any further there is one thing we have to do first. That is to make sure you have your priorities right, the wedding is about the celebration of you and your partner dedicating your lives to each other in front of family and friends. The wedding is not the most important part – it is the relationship with your partner and then following the relationship with your friends and family. No matter what you do, things can still go wrong.

Decide how you will work with your partner in the planning and execution of the wedding. How much do you make decisions together about all the details, do you separate the tasks needed to be done and let that partner make the necessary decisions there. If you choose to do a lot of the planning your self are you going to feel like they are not pulling there fair share and will feel let down. This is where you need to talk to each other about what you expect.  If you both have a good understanding of the other persons expectations then it is easier to meet them and not leave disappoint or resentment over how something is handled.

Empower your self
You want you to know what choice you have, so you can make the best decisions possible to create your wedding the way you want that fits in to your budget. You also need to know the traditions, expectation, conventions, the rights and wrongs. This does not meant you have to follow them, but you know when you breaking with traditions and doing things your own way. This is where empower your self comes in, it lets you fill your head with lots of ideas and as much information as possible before you begin to organize your wedding.

Delegate, Delegate, Delegate
There are only two things you have to do for your wedding! First turn up and attend your wedding, the second is to organize your wedding. Once you have got everything planned, and the wedding day hits. It is like you have set up dominoes they will fall and carry the next task along. You get to enjoy the ride.

This wedding is about you and your partner, but there are a lot of other people who have a stake in your wedding.

While you and your partner might do a lot for your wedding. I am sure there are a lot of people who love you who would be willing to help. If you can get them involved and give them something to do this will help you to get more done with less stress. The people who help can be friends you are not limited to just the groomsmen and the brides maids.
