Selecting Your Bridal Party

Choosing your bridal party is probably one of the first things you will do, you may have even chosen who you wanted years ago. You may have promised a friend in high school that when you get married that they will be your maid of honor.

Some things to consider with selecting the bridal party:

  • Will they be able to support me in everything that I have to do?
  • Are they available to help?
  • Can I rely on them to be able to get done what they need to do?
  • They going to be able to share the enjoyment with me?
  • How responsible are they?
  • They going to help make everything run smoother?
  • Does where they live effect how much they can help?

It is a special honor and a privilege for someone to be part of your wedding party. Usually choose sisters, brothers, close relatives, best friends, or old school friends to fill this role. With selecting one person and not another you might hurt someone’s feeling, try to be aware of it and handle it with compassion. But you should not choose someone just because they would be upset if they are not chosen, this is about the marriage between you and your husband. It still might be worth considering especially if they are a relative that you will have connections with for the rest of your life.

Who is in your bridal Party

Usually the bride and groom will choose around 2 to 6 attendants, with the possibility of a ring bearer/flower girl. Most of the time there is the same number of attendants on the bride’s side as on the groom’s side. The actual number may vary depending on the size and formality of your wedding.
